About Life Coaching

“Happiness comes when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” – Mahatma Gandhi
The great 13th Century Zen Teacher Dogen Zenji wrote, “If you fall on the ground, stand up by the ground.” Though it is our problems that bring us into therapy, it is these same problems that end up providing the path for us to live richer, fuller, and more engaged lives. Or to put it another way, it’s the parts of us we hate the most that are also the keys to our greatest joy. Surprise!
Of course everyone comes to coaching because they need to talk about the painful stuff, but what people often don’t know is that there is a lot of laughing that happens in the room too. Another surprise! Coaching really can unlock a lot of happiness and exuberance and warmth that’s been stuck inside for far too long.
I received a Masters degree in Couples & Family Therapy with a concentration in Sex Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University, and I have training in Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) and EMDR. I’ve studied under various meditation teachers in both the Zen and Tibetan Buddhist traditions, and I’ve had a daily meditation practice for almost 30 years.
